As many of you know I’ve participated as a Community Expert in the Fireworks forum for many years (previously it was “Team Macromedia”). When Adobe purchased Macromedia the name changed. But the initials ACE conflicted with Adobe Certified Experts). The new name is now “Adobe Community Professionals ACP

Camtasia for Mac

Posted by Joyce in Uncategorized

I’ve recently switched to using mac. Vista did me in :-) I record my movies using Camtasia Studio. They have a Mac version but quite different from the PC verssion. I’m still in the learning stages so the new movies on the CS4 pages aren’t always perfect. But I didn’t want to hold up posting new videos.

A review will be coming soon for Techsmiths Camtasia Mac.

Get the AIR for Fireworks update as well:

Be sure to read the readme file with the AIR update. Youy’ll need to go into Program Files/Adobe/FireworksCS4 (the rest of the path is in the readme) and remove the SDK folder and paste in the new one.

Did you know you could sharpen an image in Adobe Dreamweaver CS4?

This change will permanently  change the image!

1. Select the image

2. Click the “Sharpen Icon” in the Properties inspector (two icons to the right of the Crop icon)

3. Warning comes up about altering the original file – click OK

4. Use the slider to adjust the sharpness. If you select the “Preview” option, you will see the changes live.

5. Click OK to finish.

If you are confused with what settings to use when exporting images from Adobe Fireworks then a good rule of thumb is:

Photos or objects with gradient fills should be “jpeg”

Vector shapes and text should be “gif”

Resizing Images

When resizing an image in Adobe Fireworks:

1. Select the image

2. Go to Modify>Canvas>Image Size

3. Be sure “Constrain Proportions” is checked

4. Now enter the width OR the height you want and leave the other blank.

5. Click OK

By putting in one dimension you can resize the width or height and have the other constrain and scale perfectly!
